IJFD can be translated as International
Youth volunteer Service. It is a German program for Youth between 18
and 26 years old to go abroad. The Volunteer needs a sending
organization that supports him. The duration of the stay can be
between 6 and 18 month, considering the wish of the volunteer as well
as the wish of the hosting organization in the country abroad.
There are various possibilities for doing a volunteer service: Youth Centers, working with old people, educational work, environmental protection and much more.
Food and accommodation are provided for the volunteer but in partial the costs of the stay are covered by the volunteer itself. He has to search for donations of friends, family or firms to raise a fund.
